Built for people who just want to type fast.
Typeset started as a weekend itch: most typing tests online are cluttered with logins, leaderboards you don't care about, and ads jammed between you and the words. We wanted something closer to a newsroom wire — clean copy, a ticking clock, and a number at the end that tells you the truth.
Every test on Typeset runs entirely in your browser. There's no account to create and no typing data sent anywhere to be sold. Your stats — words per minute, accuracy, streaks, personal bests — are stored locally on your device so they're there the next time you open the site, and nowhere else.
What Typeset measures
We report words per minute (WPM), raw accuracy, and consistency — how steady your pace was across the test, not just your average. A single high WPM number can hide a lot of backspacing; we'd rather show you the full picture.
Time-based sprints, fixed word counts, punctuated passages, and a "wire" mode that pulls in live text so no two sessions read the same.
Why it's free
Typeset is supported by a small amount of on-page advertising, placed so it doesn't interrupt the typing area itself. That's what keeps the test free, sign-up-free, and ad-network-tracking-light. If something about an ad ever gets in your way, let us know.
Who's behind it
Typeset is an independent, small-team project. We build and maintain it in our spare time and read every message that comes through the contact page.
